Sound did return at times but I still get static as well.
I have this problem as well.
People have reported that this helps the problem:
Go to Control Panel > Sound.
Select your device and choose Properties. Check the enhancements tab and disable any enhancements that are active.
Then go to the Advanced tab and set the quality to "16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality)"
Hit Apply then launch the game and please check again.
Besides that the problem is being sent up the chain. Hopefully there's a more graceful and permanent fix soon.

I've got the same problem and no this fix doesnt work considering I just completed a fresh install of windows and those settings are the default for my headset right off the bat. Now dont you feel silly for trying to say this is gonna fix it when everyone has tried it before you posted this.
Get real and fix the game already. I cant believe this hasnt been fixed yet considering how high profile this game is.
nah, thats not working. All i have after doing this - sound glitchesin first battle and cutted sound in others. In fact, its only multyplayer issue

Well, since lot people have this issues and everyone want to have a fix .. its up to ea now. I tried everything i can think about to fix it.. but actually believe or not it is the game! OMG
We had such sound bugs with Battlefield4 on release.. wait a bit and calm down people - ea are only people like you - the game dont runs away.
Yes, you need to Master it within your Mind. Sensitive hearing and filtering all the * out makes you hear it! Thats the fix .. if you cant master it you wont hear it ..
I use this tip and after 10-15 games sound OK for me now. Before this tip I havent primary sound in this game(only on start game and later some secondary sound effects). Thank you.

nvidia GPU with latest drivers.
my issue is horror cracking sound most the time no sound cut or speed up just horror cracking sound almost all the time on hoth and endor
ppl write topics about penalty by leave yep i sometimes leave when i just started because the game greet me on horror cracking no interest in playing this way
hmm no game shall make us change our system audio settings to work properly if every other game work just finest
especialy not one made by a good famous and modern tech company as EA
