Battle Front II Parental Controls Xbox One
Hello,
I'm curious if Battle Front II will have the same restrictions for players under the age of 18 for multiplayer access like the previous BF game had.
My 2 children are big Star Wars fans but could only play the single player and co-op modes due to their ages. Multiplayer was locked out even though I gave my permission through the Xbox Family settings. I believe the problem had something to do with their gamer tags being linked to an origin account which also has them listed as being under 18.
I decide what my children can and can not play. Not EA. This is Star Wars not GTA. Why such a strict rating? If they keep this lock on the MP aspect of the game I will not be buying it.
Thanks for letting me rant. 😃
Hey @Bird125,
if every rant was that polite, I'd be really happy.
Now when it comes to age restrictions, there's several things that have to be taken into account:
- From EA's side of things, there's two types of accounts: A normal adult account and an underage account. An underage account comes with some restrictions, one of which is the lack of access to multiplayer modes. Which for the first Battlefront was a bit... little content, that's true.
- The region you're living in: Depending on where you (and your children) live, the age at which you can "age up" an account from an underage account to an account without restrictions differs. In some countries it's 13, in some it's 18.
- Xbox settings. You can apply parental restrictions on the Xbox account which limits the online accessibility, too.
So if you have an Xbox account without any restrictions connected to an underage EA/Origin account, you won't be able to play online. The ESRB/PEGI Rating is also a thing that has to be taken into account - the content of the first part was rated 16+.
If you know the Gamertag or Origin account name of the account I might be able to check if the Origin account is an underage account. If there's any other questions, just shoot.
