    @McDuble33download the latest patch 1.04 and finish that fight arena. once you leave on the Mantis and land at your next planet. turn off the console and reload - BD1 should return

@EA_Atic Some extra information. I have successfully opened a chest. BD-1 was invisible(presumably) and I got the item. The whole animation played including all the head turning etc. But trying to use the minimap or healing or talking was still unsuccessful after opening the chest.
