I bought Star Wars: Squadrons a couple days ago, and am having problems. I have been able to play exactly one match online. I play with my husband and stepson, and neither of them can send me invites, nor can I ever find a match, even using the "Quick Match" option. I can send them invites, but if I am in the squad, we also cannot get into a match. I have made sure it's allowed through the firewall and my ports are open, but I'm not sure what could possibly be wrong. The only thing I changed after the first match was, I hooked up my Oculus Rift and played a tutorial in VR, that I didn't even finish because it appeared to be bugged (Star Destroyer was down to 1HP and would not be destroyed). After that I have not been able to connect, even with all of my Rift software turned off. I also opened Origin and Squadrons as administrator, still could not get invites (They got the notice that the invite could not be sent). I really want to play this game in multiplayer, so a solution would be greatly appreciated
So I figured it out. I had mistakenly turned off Crossplay. Apparently you can't even JOIN A GROUP WITH someone who has that turned on if yours is off.

- falkor00015 years agoSeasoned Novice@EA_Atic I have had spotty ability to add friends from my squadrons in-game. Since 3.0, I have not been able to successfully add friends from any platform in-game. This reduces my ability to keep a squadron together and play with friends. May I suggest a "recent players" list of the squadron from the previous match? Also, since the matchmaking change today, I have had all my friend requests in-game result in a failed invite message. Do you have any insight herein? Thank you so much.

Though I was unable to add EA account names and getting an "Invite Failed" message, Steam account names that I added would show up in-game after a restart. However, I could not invite a Steam player from inside the game. After I had restarted and he showed up on my list inside Squadrons, I sent a team invite and received this error ID:
This was someone on Steam whose account I'd added via Steam. The only way to get our team of three together in a squad was to cancel the lobby with my Xbox squadmate, whom I'd added through Origin, and accept an out-of-game Steam invite to join the game of my Steam friend (I was luckily on Steam as well so we had the platform in common if nothing else) and then with him as group leader I was able to invite the Xbox squadmate in-game. It was difficult to maneuver these obstacles, but we did make it with a haphazard, out-of-game approach. I'd just request that there be some way to get friends who know their IDs to be in the same lobby regardless of who is doing the invite and from what platform. If I weren't facilitating via Steam, my teammates could never have played with each other even though we already knew each other. Thanks for keeping an eye on this.
