Crash to Desktop when loading Fleet Battle

What were you doing when the bug occurred? Step by Step detail is helpful. Trying to load the Fleet Battle Tutorial. It also happened when trying to load the Yavin fleet battle map for multiplayer vs AI. Every time I tried to load it up, I get an immediate crash to desktop.
Where did this issue occur? Please include menu name or in game location. Crashes to desktop from loading screen (seemingly only with the Yavin map).

Game crashes to desktop every time I try to load Fleet Battles for Yavin. Not sure if it happens to other maps as well.

@liquience Found a solution: Go into video settings and change the volumetric setting to low. Mine runs fine now.

@FetusParade Confirmed that changing Volumetrics from Ultra to anything else (High works for me) resolves the crash to desktop on that map. I saw there was a patch today and was hopeful it would fix the issue altogether, but it didn't. Thanks for the workaround!

You guys are lucky the volumetric setting is working...I've tried that and still get this crash among other issues with multiplayer ☹️

Yes I found the same to be true. Set mine to high and I've been able to play.

@FetusParade Unfortunately didn't work for me. I dropped everything to the lowest resolution and all settings to low. No joy. ☹️

@liquience What resolution are you playing at?

This seems to be an issue specifically with Volumetric Effects combined with Resolution size and Fleet Battles specifically.

I run at 5960x1080. I can play everything except Fleet battles at Ultra everything, But i MUST have Volumetric Effects set to medium, or i'll crash on loading. If i run the game in a WINDOW at roughly 1920x1080 with all settings on Ultra, and the game runs perfectly fine.

But the higher the resolution, the lower you have to set Volumetric Effects, and its ONLY linked to Fleet Battles.

@Gwydion_Wolf I'm playing at 5120x1440@120Hz. Resolution does seem to be a factor.

I can only guess its a resolution issue more than a hardware issue.
I literally can run the game in Borderless Windowed on Ultra everything, in ever aspect of the game 'except' Fleet Battles and never crash. Fleet battles require i turn that setting down to medium, "if" i want to run the game across all 3 screens via Nvidia Surround, or i'll crash on loading to the point were i'd be 'in' the fighter.
If i run the game in a window, i never crash, at any video option from low, to ultra. (though when its in a window, i keep the window inside 1 single monitor, keeping it at roughly 1080p resolution)
That 1 single, specific, option seems to be the culprit. and its specific to the Fleet Battle maps.
I can only guess that something with their files that setting runs off of, were not made with our larger resolutions in mind, and the game 'breaks' when it tries to load them stretched out that big. (yet it has no problems with any of the other Graphical things being super-sized 😃 nore with it being set to even Ultra in 'other' game-modes.)

I have the same issue using VR and it's only with the Yavin map. If I see this map I have to just quit and ruin it for the others while I take whatever the abandonment punishment is.
I have tried re-joining multiple times and I am able to join but will crash again whenever I die without faiil. The volumetric settings change has no effect but I'm not sure those settings apply to VR either.
