Cycle Target with controller on PC doesn't work

Product: Star Wars: Squadrons
Platform:Steam-PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? CommuNice
Are you playing in VR? No
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Other
Please explain 'Other' All types of mutliplayer battles
What were you doing when the bug occurred? Step by Step detail is helpful. Using an xbox one controller paired to PC. yesterday everything worked fine, but today my target cycle button ("A" unchanged from default) will not target players, and will not cycle through players. Yesterday, it would start by targeting closest player, then cycle by distance, then find AI if no player targets available. Today, it will only target AI (and only sometimes). It also will sometimes target friendly support ships or flagships in fleet battles, but again...not players. It makes targetting virtually impossible, as the only type of targeting that works is manual, line of sight targeting with left trigger.
Where did this issue occur? Please include menu name or in game location. Ranked battles, unranked battles, dogfights.....literally all types of batttles.
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 03/10/20 12:00
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How severe is your issue? Can play, but it's highly frustrating
What happens when the bug occurs? pressing "a" on xbox controller on pc will not target players. double tapping "a" will sometimes target someone targeting me, but not always, and rarely someone actually within range.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see what was happening yesterday and what the controls in the menu describe: tap a to cycle between targets. Yeterday it cycled fine. It would target an enemey player once one was in range, and when multiple were visible, tapping a would cycle between them, going from nearest to farthest.
Which ship were you playing? If not applicable, just answer "no" or "none." all
What components were you using? unsure, but a few
Which customizations (if any) were you using? many

cycle target seems broken. will not target players. only occasionally targets AI.

  • I am also having this problem, with an added annoyance.
I have auto-target on and auto-select new target when the old one dies turned on.
Both were working, about 20 hours ago, I logged off, then an hour later I logged back in and both had stopped working.
Now it won't look for a new target for me, and it constantly says there are no targets available, even when someone is directly in front of me and within firing range.

Thanks to this issue, I have gone from spending the whole time hunting people down and having a blast. To spending more than half the match spinning around in circles wondering where the hell everyone is, then randomly dying.

  • **UPDATE**

found a temporary fix. If using an xbox controller on PC:

hold left trigger and use the pop up menu to adjust who you can target. I made sure it was set to target all enemies. This seems to fix it but occasionally the problem pops up still. I made sure to open settings and have it save preferences between matches and it still gets problematic occasionally, but it at least isnt broken all the time.
