Did Something Change?

Generally prefer to play Imperial and I was averaging 9 kills per game without any sort of prior experience and getting kills in the double digits wasn't uncommon. Recently picked it up again and I can't get any kills. Thought it was just me being rusty, but after 15 games or so, every single one has been a Rebel victory and it's uncommon for anyone on my team to break 3 kills. Rebel ships feel a lot harder to track and kill, even with an Interceptor with boosted maneuverability. I'm getting decimated in every engagement and can't hit and run like I used to. Rebel players seem like they can hunt TIEs much more effectively and to be honest, it's killing my desire to keep playing. Was there a balance update that I'm unaware of? What happened?
I think they messed with the aiming system 2 or 3 patches ago, because I remember post patch feeling like I suddenly wasn't hitting shots that I would have hit before, and just generally feeling like I was getting less kills, and this was long before the A-wing nerf.
I know there was supposed to be a patch for the aiming reticle in 4.0 but they pulled it at the last minute. It was even in the official patch notes, briefly, then they edited it out.
Edit: The other fellow's statement is true too. Matchmaking has made players who were getting a zillion kills feel average, because you're not getting a constant crop of blueberries (which everyone at launch was).
