The game exceeded my expectations in nearly every way, it's amazing. Unfortunately, the area it did not was a major selling point for me. I had assumed that players interested in winning matches would be naturally insulated from players who can't be bothered learning how to win as a team, by the ranking system. I had heard that high-ranked players wouldn't even be able to matchmake with their low-ranked friends. Instead, nearly every match requires us to play around teammates that tunnel vision and just fly out to die repeatedly. Yes, the matches are populated very quickly, but while I'm over here sweating profusely, grandma's pet cat - who hasn't figured out how to switch their targeting off objectives only - joins my team and flies the way you'd expect a real cat to fly. The consistency of the matches suffers greatly and in the event we manage to win, grandma's pet cat is cementing terrible habits.
The in-game flying and mechanics exceeded my expectations.
the campaign was good too.
but... I EXPECTED TRACKIR/ Headtracking in a modern pc space flight sim, that was banging on about full HOTAS support back in June.
it’s the only big issue I still have. Except of course the horrific and overly complicated ui in the menus and bindings.
