@CA1-PAINLESS Someone else in another thread described the flight physics as "it's like moving through jelly", which perfectly describes my experience. So I really wonder how someone who claims to have spent thousands of hours on those Lucasarts classics can not see this (serious question).
Also, no one (or at least not me) wants this game to be an exact replica of the old games. But I was hoping for a worthy successor.
Gaming industry developed since then, many many good games (or even mediocre games but with good ideas in them) were published since then. Adding fresh / modern stuff where fitting is a good thing, yet they failed to do so and picked up some outdated mechanics and put them on top of the other mess.

@Darth_GrumpyCat
"Thousands" in the X-wing games would be an extreme understament.
Star Wars Squadrons is a Classic in the making, just like the Xwing series were classsics back in the day and all the flight SIM guys used to poo poo them. The flight mechanics in SWS are awesome, much more modern. They have depth and nuance that X-wing or Tie fighter never had.
Its all about nuance. learn how to fly these ships right and this game is a ton of fun.
