Yeah, I'm sorry, but the disappearing bodies bother me as well. Especially the way they disappear, like Star Trek TOS beaming without the snowstorm effect.
I understand there are issues in the game with loading assets - the digital foundry analysis showed that very clearly - and I could imagine that leaving the corpses there would be an additional strain.
That said, all the Souls Games managed to leave corpses, sometimes quite a lot of them, including ragdoll physics. Granted, when you entered an area they sometimes fell out of the sky, but still.
Fighting enemies and see their bodies vanish right in front of you after a few seconds, it feels and looks bad. If this was due to technical limitations, it should've been incorporated into the story somehow:
(Enemy corpse vanishes in a flash of light)
Kal: What? That... (Looks around), this planet, there is something about it. The force is... in turmoil, reaching out, containing energy ... Nothing ever really dies here. It always comes back...
And then tie that somehow into explaining the whole thing about how meditating respawns enemies. I mean, come on.
Anyways, point is that Jhonen Vasquez, honorable creator of Invader Zim, once dragged a body in Bloodborne around for like 15 minutes.
Fine, maybe that's not a very good point. But the way it is now, it kills the immersion. And it just plan looks bad.
I also agree on the wide range of graphics quality (the wall running Padawan training looks like PS2), some animation issues, enemies turning on a dime (Oggdo Bogdo lunge attack when slowed is horrible), the big vines on the first planets actually blocking your path.
Here's a video showing a lot of the things mentioned:
I really enjoy the game, the puzzles, the story (despite one obvious twist so obvious it was painful to watch the set-up). Zeffo is a masterclass in level design with very fun slides (I just wish the ice walls would also respawn on the slides).
But I wish they would've postponed it for another four months or so and really polished it into a consistent and technically functional experience.
I must admit I am a bit disappointed by this. Respawn usually does better with their products.
Btw: TITANFALL 3! TITANFALL 3!
@P4NCH0theD0GThanks for your post, it describes my mood very good. The game could be so damn good of this immersion breaker was not there.
Even Uncharted 2 on PS3 in 2010 had permanent bodies....at least until a reload.

I feel lately that most games just cant quite grasp realism anymore.
The game looks fantastic with the beautiful colours, star wars sceneries, it just looks and feels Star Wars! But yet it's the finer things in games that developers miss.
You use a light sabre that can cut through anything except your enemies, the light sabre when active can leave residue markings on a wall or the ground when you strike but when its out for show it can disappear through walls and everything. Bodies disappear after seconds of killing them why didnt they take the rule out of Shadow of War? That had a great action feel to it that looked so real bodies and body parts where still I the ground. As i said, it's the finer things that fans want to see.
