Ion Rockets are quite slow for a Missile weapon, I believe it is more an Anti Capital ship weapon. I still use A-wing for testing purposes but never notice a dramatic decrease or increase in performance, I believe skill and experience is what makes the difference in Dogfight PVP. I never claim to be a good A-wing pilot though, just sharing my experience. I still prefer X-wing but use all the different New Republic Starfighters.

I'm using rockets against fighters and it's fine.
in a joust scenario you don't care that they are slow or dumbfire, you just have to aim as you are aiming your lasers in this case. And forcing a joust was how you could kill a tie-interceptor in a a-wing, the tie-int winning all others scenario thanks to his superior manoeuvrability and speed. But not anymore.
