Dynamic Resolution not working after restarting the game

Product: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
Platform:PC
Summarize your bug Every time I start up the game I have Dynamic Resolution on, and my max FPS set to 60. However when I first start playing the game my frame rate will dip all the way to the mid 30s. I've found out that if I go back to settings, set my max fps to 45 or 30. Go back in game then go back to settings and change it back to 60fps the game will suddenly jump all the way to a consistent 60fps. This seems to indicate that the dynamic resolution for some reason isn't activating until I make these changes.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go in game, set the max fps to 60 and enable dynamic resolution. Make sure your fps isn't locked at 60 without dynamic resolution on because that'll make it hard to see the differences. (For example i'm running 4k on an RTX 2060 at ultra settings). After applying the settings exit out of the game and go back in game without touching any settings and see what your fps is. Again make sure it's an area that you're unable to get 60fps in without dynamic resolution. Then go back in the settings and flip max fps to either 30-45, go back in game, then go back into settings and flip it back to 60. Your fps should jump up to 60fps.
What happens when the bug occurs? Dynamic Resolution seems to not be working right
What do you expect to see? I expect for my settings to be properly saved and for dynamic resolution to work properly without having to make any settings changes.

My specs are

GPU: EVGA RTX 2060 XC Ultra

CPU: Ryzen 3800X

RAM 16gb DDR4 3200

MOBO: Asus ROG Strix x570-E

Have you solved your issue? It happens the same to me

  • @lemenne69 Nope. I still have to change Max FPS every time I start the game. I have a feeling this is an issue that isn't going to be fixed.

    I think so.

But they said that have correct this issue with a patch:

    • Fixed a texture flickering issue that would display on the screen while driving the AT-AT on Kashyyyk.
    • Sometimes the input from the arrow keys would fail to respond within menus, this has now been fixed.
    • Dynamic resolution settings will now save properly.
    • Fixed an issued where the game could become slow and loading times longer than expected.

This issue is still happening after the latest patch. Can anyone from EA/Respawn acknowledge this problem?

  • I had this issue too. Thanks for the solution! Looks like I'll just have to deal with switching the fps cap back and forth every time I start the game. It's annoying, but not a huge deal.
