Feature request - Squadron practice grounds

I don't know how feasible this is given I have no friends currently who play this game so I would need to figure out how to try and join a squad, but it got me to thinking.

If I was already in a squad, or actively recruiting, it would be nice if I could start a multiplayer session in a map, and only invite my squad and anyone who is requesting to join.

1. All maps selectable to train on

2. Only your 5 team squad, no 5 on 5. This is a practice/proving ground.

3. Weapons don't destroy ship, but register damage (think lazer tag)

4. Can summon AI aircraft to train maneuvers and tactics against with your squad (train for specific situations)

5. Create a sort of time trial mode, only it's called Stay on Target! Designate 1 craft as 'bandit' and then have your recruit try to keep up. The longer he stays within a certain distance/visual range the more points he scores. Accrue more points the closer you stay on the bandits six.

  • I second this. Was going to make a similar post. To have ranked games, but no way for a Squadron to practice before the game is a bit lacking. If fleet battles is like star wars football, why do teams have nowhere to practice together? It would be useful to help friends learn how to play. Great idea.

Those options are already available in the training/practice section. You or the leader can start up practice , choose the map and spawn up to 6 different enemy squad compositions,  1 at a time or all at once. We could have used more than 6 permutations or could have been allowed to pick which ships make up the enemy , but all in all a pretty decent compromise.

  • They should definately consider to add all.maps at least, Training is a neat idea.but we need a bit of map variety.

We tried and it didn’t work. Being able to invite friends into the practice mode is the entire reason for the thread. It’s a good idea.

@BullitMagnit74 When I went in I was alone, but it appeared as though you could have multiple teammates , looks could be deceiving I suppose and probably should have checked that before implying......apologies if I assumed incorrectly.
  • Another feature I would like to see is single player survival mode.

    * Survive the onslaught of increasingly difficult waves of enemies, across a variety of different locations and differing ship types.

    * Leaderboard scoring to give us something to compete with over the coming months and years.

Also a dynamic randomly generated single player mission editor mode: something akin to Falcon F16's dynamic mission creator.

This could be played offline or online with friends.
