@mrjohnspeed this error usually comes up if your system does not meet them minimum system requirements. In your case the requirements for the videocard:

Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB

You need at least a card with 2GB shared memory which supports Direct X11 in order to play SW:Battlefront on your system.

I'm also experiencing this problem. I have an evga GeForce 780ti with 3gb of memory. What else could be causing this?

I have the latest nvidia drivers, i5 CPU, 16gb ram. All my other games including swtor, wow, Diablo, starcraft 2, hots, WildStar, elder scrolls online work without incident.

My monitor is running at 2560x1440 resolution. After I got that error on ultra settings, I tried it at low settings but still crashed.

Any help would be appreciated!

While I do not specifically recall the REASON this happens, many EA games cause that error response, and it's not descriptive of the actual situation. In the case of the OP, the answer above is inaccurate, which I will be reporting, since a Radeon 6000 generation card is a Dx11 device. A 6900, either one of the top two of them, I believe, will exceed the performance of the HD 7850.

Crysis 3, for one, was guilty of that bad behavior constantly, and I think there is a sticky in the AHQ Crysis forum about it.

P. S. I have since verified that the HD 6970 and HD 6990 are both equal to, or in the case of the 6990, far superior to a 7850.

Well that's not entirely true, I play this game with a video card that only has 1 gb vid ram. and I play it on medium but I can run high xD
try opening the game with window mode, after that go to windowed fullscreen borderless and enjoy
