    Hmm, that's really strange.

Can you try something else for me when you have a chance? Open up your controller settings in Steam and go to General Controller Settings. If there is an active configuration there for Xbox controllers can you try unchecking it to see if that makes a difference?

Let me know how it goes when you have the chance to give it a shot. Thanks!

  • Thank you! That sort of worked. I now have control of both kb & xbox controller immediately on game startup and I'm able to select options from the menu. However there's no game audio in the VR headset at first - I still have to left click with the mouse to get the audio output to the headset. That may have always been the case and I just didn't notice as I was more focused on trying to get the controller to work. It's as if I have to select the game by clicking with the mouse to let it know to output sound to the VR headset. It's an improvement though. Also, minor issue is controller bindings are not ideal with the config unchecked.

Hmm, that sounds like something might be taking focus away from the game until you click on it to give it focus in Windows. Which VR headset are you using?

    /Kent

  • I'm using the Valve Index - video output to the headset seems ok, I can see the game startup splash-screens and clips and the game menus come up in the headset, just the audio isn't there until I left click with the mouse.

Very odd. This only happens if you're playing in VR? The same thing doesn't happen if you launch the game without the headset?

    /Kent

  • I know right? Very weird. Yes - only in VR and only this game. If I launch the game non-VR, then sound outputs immediately on startup to my main speakers as expected. I've noticed if Steam VR is already running when I launch the game - for example if I play another game, quit that and then launch SW Squadrons directly from the Steam VR environment, then the problem does not occur. audio is output to the VR headset as soon as the game starts launching - music plays for the Lucasarts splash screen and the startup video clips. I guess I could just try starting steam VR before starting the game.

Hmmm, I see. Were you able to test that out? If Steam VR is already running before you launch the game there aren't any audio issues?

    /Kent

  • Yes - confirmed, if Steam VR is already running then no audio issues.

Really strange, thanks for testing! I'll pass this along for a look.
