Game spawned me trapped underwater after update????

What the actual frick??? Last night I was on land, I think on Zeffo after getting the holocron, and I saved at a meditation point on land. I launched into Origin today, the game downloaded/installed an update, and upon game launch I spawned under water, standing up initially then switching to swim mode after a couple of seconds, on what looks like a night time planet, trapped in a small area that I can't swim out of. Quitting and re-launching the game keeps putting me in this spot that I was never in and can't get out of. What the actual f***???? With this crappy checkpoint save system (I effing hate checkpoint save systems!), I have no other save point to revert to, I have no idea where the game spawned me or how to get out of here, the map won't come up, and I can find no way out of this little spot it spawned me in. I'm looking at having to start over from scratch when I'm at 77% completed with the game. If I have to start this game over at the beginning, this is my last EA straw.

I'm running a game repair/download, and if this doesn't fix it, m'kay goodbye EA for good. I'll miss Dragon Age and Mass Effect, but I'm not spending one more dime on this company's "pushed out the door before it was done", crappy console ports.
