Game Won't Launch (Steam - failure to start process )

I purchased the game through Steam. When I try to launch, I get two pop-up errors: one is a standard Windows error box, stating: link2ea://launchgame/1172380?platform=steam&theme=jfo. The other is a steam error "Failed to start process for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order(TM): "Application not Found" (0x800401F5). The game does not launch.

I've tried restarting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling steam, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and now I'm trying to reinstall Origin, as I read a possible solution that updating Origin would help. The problem is, Origin has all the positive effects of a computer virus without any of the effective programming, so it won't update. I get the popup window for updating origin, I download the approximately 169MB update, and then I get a popup error: updatetool.exe has stopped working. Then I get an Origin notification saying "Hold up! An update is required" telling me that I need to update to Windows 7 or newer. I'm running Windows 7.

After the disaster that was Mass Effect: Andromeda, I swore off any EA products forever, but that was three years ago, and in my infinite stupidity I forgot about my vow. So now I have a game that I've paid for, and I want to run it. Of course, I'm about one "have you tried restarting your computer?" away from just asking for a refund and returning to my firm belief that EA is nothing more than an out-of-control tire fire masquerading as a software company.

Can someone actually help with this?
