Help is on the way - DROP ZONE tips

Drop Zone is a pretty straightforward game mode where you must capture 5 Escape Pods. Capturing requires locating the Pod, pressing and holding the key or button you have bound to INTERACT for a few seconds to activate a capture for your team, then guarding it against the enemy team.

Here are a few tips to give you the upperhand...

1. Look to the Skies: When an Escape Pod is about to crash land on the map you will get a warning, and if you look up you will be able to see the smoke trail as it plummets from the sky. You now have a head start knowing where to run.

2. Listen: Even if you don't spot the smoke trail in the sky, you should be able hear the direction the Pod is falling. This is easier with Headphones than with ordinary speakers or a TV.

3. Grab the Pod: But clear out enemies in the immediate vicinity first.

4. Stay close but not too close: Once you or your team mates have interacted with the Escape Pod and tagged it for your team, move away and watch the Pod from a position that gives you a good view of it as well as possible routes of attack. Many enemy players will blindly run at the Pod to try and tag it. Blast them!

5. Don't forget to check above you: Many drop sites have areas above them an enemy player can stand and sneak attack you from.

6. Grenade the final moments: When an Escape Pod is almost captured, in the last quarter, be ready to lob a grenade near the Pod. This stops enemies snatching it away at the final moment.

7. Grab those power ups: Once an Escape Pod is fully captured it takes a few seconds to release its cargo, but be wary of enemies in the area.

8. Make the enemy pay: If you've just lost an Escape Pod, the enemies will often crowd around the Pod waiting for the power ups. Lob a grenade on the fools. As a bonus, even though you didn't capture the Pod, you can still pick up the power-ups.

9. Use the Power-up wisely: These are best saved for either attacking an Escape Pod being claimed by the enemy or used in protecting one you are capturing.

10. Don't lose your way: Many players are too concerned with kill scores and end up fighting nowhere near the Pods. 5 Escape Pods is all your team needs to win. If you aren't actively locating and capturing Pods, you are helping the enemy win.

I hope this helps you to victory. I'd welcome any other tips for becoming a Drop Zone master, if you have some more to offer please reply.

  • After you grab the pod, and if you have a proximity bomb, attach it to the pod!

When the enemy gets close... Boom!
