How to legally use EA Games under a Student Esport Committee

Dear EA Sports,

I am a master student in a Swiss University.

As a matter of fact, I am looking to create an Esport committee in my school starring multiple EA Games. Although I have already developed a "business plan", the school administration do not allow me to freely create it.

Indeed, their legal department assume that as the games are owned by a private entity (EA) it may result in litigious outcome for the school by associating their name to Esport events starring your games...

Being an Esport passionate student, I am keen to understand what are the "legal" conditions to be able to host Esport events and create an Esport committee without putting my school in troubles... As a matter of fact, I am not only looking to organise Esport Tournaments at school for students but as well playing the games occasionally without any competitive purposes. Thereafter, would my school be in a litigious situation if by creating this Esport we would only organise some gaming evenings without any competitive purpose ?

Thereafter, could you help me understand what "legal" procedures I may follow in order to legally and "freely" make students enjoy EA Games in my school under a student committee management ?

I would highly appreciate your help,

Loïc

  • Hi @supergladiator7,

We don't have much information on the forums for business-related needs, press reviews, or review keys as we don't directly handle these requests on Answers HQ.

For game ideas please note that we’re not able to accept product ideas or game concepts from non-employees outside of Electronic Arts.

Have you ever considered working in the game industry? We often have opportunities on the creative front for people like you. Keep your eye on http://careers.ea.com and see if any of our open positions interest you

There are a few sources you can reach out to. If you want one for the purposes of a review you can submit a request here: PR Contacts

    • You may also want to check out our Partner (ea.com) page.

Additionally, if you are looking to become more active with EA games and are hoping to provide early feedback you can consider joining the EA Creator Network.

Lastly, if you want to use EA content for any reason we have a forum you can fill out here: How to request permission to use EA content

    Hope this helps!

  • Hi, thanks again for your reply back in 2022.

At the time, I was part of a Student Esport Committee and curious about the legal framework to use EA titles. Since then, I’ve had the chance to grow professionally and gain international experience, notably at Ubisoft where I worked on global gaming events (Assassin's Creed, Anno, Rainbow Six, The Crew Motorfest...) , as well as with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and governmental entities. These opportunities allowed me to deepen my knowledge of the video game industry and develop strong skills in project management, business analysis, events, and community engagement.

You had mentioned that EA was often looking for “people like me,” and this advice has stayed with me. Today, as my contract at Ubisoft will not be renewed, I am very motivated to contribute to EA’s growth. I regularly check your careers website, although most openings I see are for senior positions, while my profile is closer to a junior level. Still, I wanted to share my motivation and interest in building a career with EA, should opportunities arise. I would be more than happy to share with you my resume alongside my two recommendation letters from Ubisoft and the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Thanks again for the advice you gave me back then, it’s partly what encouraged me to pursue this path.

    Loïc
