see the fix from this thread.
1. Log in to your Origin account https://www.origin.com/
2. Down Load the Origin App from the top header that says 'Down Load Origin'
3. Accept terms and conditions when launching the App.
4. Fill in your log-in details (same as Origin Account
5 In the App. Click Friends -> Add a friend in the menu bar
6.You will see the option to connect to XBOX Live or Playstation Network. We Choose XBOX
7. It will prompt you to log into your Microsoft account (the email address and password you use to log into your xbox)
(Doesn't matter if is says you failed to find a friend it will still work )
Go back to XBOX1 try to launch the game and go to Multi Player. It should work fine.

This is an absurd amount of steps to link the two accounts. Nevermind that this shouldn't even be required to play online in the first place!

I totally agree.

I've tried the steps for Xbox1 and they do not work. I had my son log out and even turn off the console and start fresh. Nothing...Too bad for EA...they've lost my business...one suggestion I have for them is maybe having something like a "child" mode on the game if that is possible and not having to go through all these "steps"

EA, This needs to be fixed. There is no reason why your customers should need a workaround for this.

"EA" isn't here. This is a gamer community website. You must contact EA directly:

That's not the problem here. His gamertag is linked with his Origin account.
The problem is the EA servers are overriding the Xbox permissions I've set and aren't allowing him access to online features due to his age.
This needs fixing by EA. they need to change their age restriction for this game.
It's Star Wars - there's a lot of child accounts out there wanting to play that can't right now.
A lot of parents will have wasted money on a game their children can't play despite having the correct Xbox permissions in place.

That isn't the issue on X1. That thread is for PC. It doesn't work for a childs account bc they can't add friends. - 10 years ago
I followed the suggestion from SaracenThatLeads. My son's Xbox Live accounts was not linked to his EA Origin account even though they have the same email address. Once I used Origin to find all his Xbox Live friends, these linked up, and he was able to play Star Wars Battlefront. He is one happy camper now.
