I was able to fix it by disconnecting my throttle and binding it to my stick. After that I reconnected it and everything works perfectly.
@JongyHDI I am also experiencing this. In addition throttle is being detected as the X axis on my stick so the two are in conflict. If I map yaw to my X axis then I lose throttle, and vice-versa.

Step by Step detail is helpful. the game plays ok as far as i have got so far however, the default controls of roll and yaw are not what i am used too, i tried to change the yaw and roll it will not accept me mapping the X-Axies to assing to roll, it will let me change it but when i move the stick nothing, i tested it with other buttons and the mini sticks i have on the X56 and it takes them. for me who plays other space sims i cant get used to the x-axies as yaw and if it cant be fixed ill just go for a refund.

I found a work around

this shows you how to change the yaw and roll around and also with a bit of playing around you can map any other things to work.
my only worry is EA are going to leave the temp fix's inplace and not address the real issue.
