For me, the config file trial-and-error wasn't very hard. It think its because the game did let me bind my pedals to yaw right (while ignoring yaw-left), but let me bind other things to yaw left. (though I get the two confused easily, because yaw-right involves the left foot)
Anyways, here's how my trial-and-error process went (or could be repeated):
- Unbind both yaw directions, save config, make a reference copy
- Bind yaw-right (press left foot on pedal), save config, note what changed (was only 2 lines)
- Bind yaw-left to some other random control, save config, note what changed (was also only 2 lines, right near the previous change)
- Quit the game
- Guess what yaw-left (right foot) on my pedals would be, edit the change noted above to reflect that, start the game, bingo! (got this on the first try, since it was only a 1-number difference from the working yaw direction)
The key is to make one change at a time, to either identify a specific config key, or identify a specific control axis. Now if the game completely ignores an axis in both directions, this whole thing will get much harder.
Regardless, this is a bug none of us should have to put up with, so I hope they fix it soon.
FWIW, none of that USB unplug/replug/do-the-hokey-pokey-and-turn-yourself-around stuff helped at all, in my particular case.
