Hotel Wifi Disconnection

So I am living in a hotel for the next months for an internship. I set up my Xbox1 with the hotel's wifi and everything worked fine. I was able to use Netflix and play other games online. But as soon as I tried to play Battlefront (and other EA games), I lost all internet access. I was not able to connect to the EA servers at all. My initial thoughts were that the hotel's wifi is blocking the servers from EA, but once I spoke to the internet provider from the hotel, they said that they do not have any type of restrictions for their internet.

I have contacted EA and the internet provider multiple times and they all say the same thing "it's not a problem on our end". I am out of ideas, I have tried changing the alternate MAC address on my Xbox and all the different troubleshooting guides from EA.

I was able to play Battlefront by using the hotspot on my phone, so therefore it is not a problem with EA account or anything like that.  Unfortunately I do not have unlimited data...

Does anyone have any ideas? I am slowly dying without playing Battlefront...

Thanks

  • Hi, @PassDaWeegley

And if you connect your phone with the wifi network of the hotel. And afterwards you create a hotspot with your phone with the connection. You won't loose your data and perhaps, this might even work.

Please let us know the result.

I have already tried doing that, but I still lose data when I create a hotspot.

Hmm, that's not good news, @PassDaWeegley. When you can play other games, but are not able to play origin games, and your mobile connection works, I'm guessing it is the network of the hotel that is responsible for you not being able to play Battlefront. Have you already checked if your firewall on your xbox has any exclusions set for origin? I'm sad to say that I can't help you with how to do this, for I'm not an Xbox expert.
