How can I backup Star Wars Battlefront level/unlocks?

NOTE:  This happened BEFORE the February update.

While in Star Wars Battlefront (on PC) I lost internet connection when I was deciding which game mode I wanted to play.  I then had connectivity back and started playing online.   I noticed during the round my weapons were locked and after round I was Level 1 again.   (Prior to issue I was Level 50 and had many things unlocked.)  So I quit out of the game.  I then got the Origin message that my local and cloud storage was out of sync and which one did I want to use.  Fortunately I thought about it and picked "cloud" and my level and unlocks returned back to what they were.

If I had chosen the wrong thing, had Origin synced on it's own, or any other glitch - I would have had my Level/unlocks reset.  I spent a lot of hours getting this far (especially because I am not that good.)  So I never want to have to start over again.

Is there some way I can back up my local copy off my C: drive of the "save game" file that has my level and unlocks in it?   So if it is ever reset, I can restore my local copy back and it can then sync the cloud copy to set everything right.  I would lose some credits, but at least not my level and unlocks.

Thanks

  • @MurfOriginal Hey, sorry for the confusion here. There's no need to back up the progression, it's automatically done server-side.

In some rare cases this glitches and you appear to lose progress, but once things sync back up to our servers you should get back to where you were.

In this case the Origin syncs would be overwritten by the server data, so you don't need to worry about it in this case. However I can completely understand how it appears like your progress was in danger.

  • Thanks for the response.  For clarification, are you saying if I had accidentally told SWBF to use my "local" save (level 1) instead of the "Cloud" save (level 50) and I was playing as level 1, at some point it would realize it was messed up and put me back to level 50 with all my unlocks?

Does it have some logic that runs periodically that would realize I was once at a higher level so the current one I am playing cannot be correct?

I'm thinking that it would write over the "Cloud" save with the "local" save (because I told it to) and then the level 50 "Cloud" save would be gone and I have essentially reset my game.

    Do you understand my logic?

    Thanks

My understanding is that discrete cloud saves don't really do much in the game, since your progress is saved offsite/to the cloud anyway. I'm not sure if your local/solo play is included in this, but your main multiplayer progress, should always go to its correct progress level once you log in to the server to start matchmaking.
