Yep, it still doesn't work for me either. The grates are there, but fall within about a second of the pipe coming to a complete stop.
The first time I hopped on the grate, then it fell and I somehow ended up attached to the ceiling of the train car I'd just come out of. When I dropped down however I fell into the abyss rather than landing on the floor of the car. Picture attached of where I got stuck, as well as of a grate falling while I'm still on the pipe.
This is ridiculous. The game has been out for over a month and I still can't play past the first 15-20 minutes of it.

Just FYI, the May the Fourth patch didn't resolve this issue. I just restarted the game and it is still happening.
It would be great if I could play the game I purchased for more than 15 minutes.
Any idea when we might see this issue fixed?

Still have the same problem, we’re in July, and it’s not playable. This is frustrating.
Just bought the game, im having this issue lots now, in december 2020 so this has been going on for over a year, not looking forward to the game as much as i was now 😕
February 2021 still not fixed. want my money back.
