Imperial cockpit is limited, should be a full AR view

I know it is a movie trope that the imperial cockpit is simply that one tiny circular window...but this is not correct. Why are imperial cockpits a sphere, why this very specific and unique shape?...

    I don't think its that bad. and you get a better lower field of view
