Issue with exiting turrets

I don't recall having this issue in the Alpha/Beta. But it seems the only way to exit a turret in the game after the release, is with the E key. I rebind my E to enter for using a turret because I play left-handed, but it still asks me to press E to exit it. Not really the kind of issue you want when you're suddenly under fire at close range and have to quickly find the E key in the dark.

I would use AutoHotKey as a workaround, but I believe that can get me banned from a server. This wasn't in Battlefield, as I could enter/exit vehicles with the same key after rebinding from E, so why is it in this one?

I think you need to change "Exit Vehicle" which should be present under the "Ground Vehicles" tab.

  • @EA_David Thanks for that. I hope it can be altered, as it's annoying for anyone that can't play using WASD keys. I wouldn't care if this is for something like the scoreboard (although that does happen when you're on the spawn menu) but for something that's needed quickly during shooting you, it'd need to be allowed to be altered or at least be bound to the same key you enter with.

Also, could it be reported that this kind of thing happens with Battlefield 4 and Hardline? After a patch, accepting a revive was moved from LMB to the spacebar. I can see what they tried to do, as they wanted it to be bound alongside the jump button like in BF3, but really it's hard-coded to the spacebar that WAS the jump button. So it's the same situation with having to press spacebar and move quickly if people are shooting me. Although, the spacebar is easier to press than the E button in any heat of the moment.

    Thanks

@Uberschwein Well, now I feel like an idiot :P
I didn't see that there because I only went in as a soldier. To my mind, I thought that's where it'd be because it's not really a vehicle. I'm glad you pointed that out to me.

But there is still the above issue with the game that I mentioned, if they can be fixed still. TAB is used for the scoreboard all the time, but if it's rebound to my numberpad then it only works when I'm alive and infantry. Any other time, it still only works as TAB. Did this in BF4 and Hardline as well.

Well - don't feel like an idiot. I've just had to Google how to exit a turret in Battlefront II as well.

It does beggar belief how the game actively tells you to hold down the E key to 'enter' a turret and yet you don't hold down the same key to exit it? I know - let's just give that to the G key instead.

Similarly with the cards option - why do I have to set aside four valuable keys to select each one? Why couldn't I scroll a mousewheel in one direction, just like I can with the weapons? Works absolutely flawlessly in over 1,500+ hours of Warframe where mousewheel down rotates my gear and mousewheel up cycles the powers. It's exactly that kind of rapid choice that you need when things get busy on screen - rather than thinking did I set Card 1 to Q, Card 2 to F, Card 3 to X before realising that you've thrown a grenade in a closed environment.

There appears to be a general dislike for the players on Keyboard & Mouse controls in the last decade - almost like developers want to go out of their ways to hinder us. Some companies 'get it' - ironically, it tends to be a lot of the smaller games companies that allow a much more free reign on the player's controls. However, nothing but nothing pushes my buttons (excuse the pun) more than when you have to set aside a key for the most abstract of game controls that you might only ever use once. "Not all controls have been assigned - please retry" ARRRRGGGGHH!!! :P
