Jedi Fallen Order sends a message...
Some youtubers have said their 2 cents on jedi fallen order and bring up solid points. Some of which I’d like to relay. First off, I agree with cleanprince that this game only exists because they know they pushed gamers too far with battlefront 2 and if fallen order was announced as anything else other than a single player game, there’d have been players who boycotted. Second, the success the game has had is proof of why the narrative of micro transactions being “necessary” needs to off and also proves that single player games have a place in the industry. We as gamers are told that games are too expensive and that micro transactions help cover the cost but at the same time EA reports to investors saying that micro transactions have no impact on their financial earnings. I call. With sports games like FIFA generating the majority of the revenue through their micro transactions with very little effort, this practice has become the financial backbone of EA. If the loot boxes and micro transaction really have no impact, then all the we as gamers put up with is just the result of EA’s greed. Yet, if the micro transactions really are necessary, (which they aren’t unless a game is free) then it’s becoming more and more obvious that their sacrificing quality for profit. Case in point, sports games. For once, a Star Wars game comes out that people can enjoy without any of the typical EA that gamers have come to expect and loathe and look what happened. People actually liked it and the game is doing well in sales. Finally, a point from Jim sterling, EA should lose the exclusive publishing rights to Star Wars. Fallen order is only one of three games to have come out since the EA’s monopoly over Star Wars games and is the only one to be received well by the public. Battlefront was an empty game that charged the price of 2 games to get all the content and battlefront 2 was the biggest scandal in recent gaming history. EA’s also canceled star wars games because they were allegedly single player games that couldn’t be excessively monetized. If I were a disney executive, I’d have revoked the license ages ago. Seriously, what were they thinking? Anyway, I hope the game continues selling because EA needs this wake up call to realize what people want.
