Jedi Fallen Order "There is a problem with your game's setup. Please reinstall"

I played Jedi Fallen Order a couple times on my old machine, built it myself, WIn 10, i9 9900k, GTX 1080ti (leftover GPU from last system), 32gb ram, etc.  Game launched and played relatively ok, tho there were stutters.  I was able to play thru to the end, at least.  I really enjoyed it.

I  just got a new system, prebuilt (coz economy/scalpers, etc) from cyberpowerpc.  Win11, RTX 3080, i9 12900k, 32gb ram, etc.  This was a game I was looking forward to replaying.

But when I try to launch JFO from Origin, it gives me a message: "There is a problem with your game's setup.  Please reinstall your game."  I tried the repair option, rebooted system, no improvement, still blocked from even launching the game.  I can launch Cyberpunk 2077 just fine, and get an astonishing 60fps locked at 1440p vsync'd in Ultra raytracing settings. DLSS auto, without DLSS fps drops to 30s, but it still runs.

Why should we buy new pc's if 2.5 year old games won't even launch?

At first I assumed it was a Win 11 problem, but I'm seeing unresolved posts from 2019 with the same problem.  So is it just a case of "**** you sucker, we already got your money" or is there a solution to be had?  Thanks in advance.

  • Ok, googled it before, but found solution after posting.  I'm posting again with these keywords as I expect this to be helpful for futurefolk.

    The answer is here:

"I had the same problem. Reinstalled the game thrice and it didn't help (what a waste of bandwidth).

The solution was to go to

    SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Jedi Fallen Order\__Installer\directx\redist

and install the directX that comes with it. Then play with the desktop icon and it just works.

It is worth mentioning that I installed the game on a different SSD drive than my C:\ drive."

If you're on Origin as I am, replace the steam game path with your origin game path.  But this worked for me.  I can now launch the game after installing the prerequisite directX installer REQUIRED for the game.

MAYBE figure this ish out and bundle it when installing your ******* game via origin, you blockheads!

I apologize.  Please fix it in your installer for future people.

  • EA's stupid * forum auto moderation didn't want me to post a link, but allowed me to post a link with a few underscores between h_t_t_ps.  Remove the underscores from the previously posted link.  And remember.  Never, EVER, link any account with EA or Origin.  These clowns are the only dbags who allowed my account to be hacked, do NOT open your steam/ps/whatever account to EA.  NEVER LINK TO CLOWN TOWN.

  • PS. after getting this game to run, I see now that it is slightly better on the RTX 3080 than my last system.  But if you are looking for a completely smooth framerate, I fear that may never be possible.  Do NOT upgrade your system if that is a goal.

This game's stutters can be viewed in the opening cutscene, as the camera pans down past the first old school star destroyer.  You will likely stutter then.  And in my experience, that will continue thru game play.

I still stutter, not quite as badly as I did on GTX 1080ti.  But not worth a 3k+ expenditure for RTX 3080 (+12kcpu etc).

From what I've seen, this game will never run right, and will only become increasingly more difficult to run at all.  PC master race.  More like PC master ****s.

EA, fix your ish.  I know you don't care about star wars or fifa or anything anymore.  Are you guys trying to implode?  Agh, who am I even talking to????

  • No surprise they suck cause this issue been going on for 4 years now and they to stupid to fix problems with there games I'm new to jedi fallen order and would like to play it before the new one comes out in March survivor think is name

  • This is on the older side of time, I'm closing this thread to stop it from being necroed.

If you have any issues with Jedi Fallen Order, please make a new topic about your problems and what kind of steps you have tried to solve them.'
