If you play Jedi order through steam simply goto this location in the steam local files "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Jedi Fallen Order\SwGame\Binaries\Win64" and double click the exe called "SwFame-Win64-Shipping.exe" it will allow you to play the game but you wont log either time or achievements in steam.
Hope this helps.

I used the other executable <drive>\Steam\steamapps\common\Jedi Fallen Order\SwGame\Binaries\Win64\starwarsjedifallenorder.exe which launched the EA app. After logging in it launched the game. Closing the game and then starting from steam now works again, including steam achievements and saves etc.

I also tried that out but for me it just bought me to an error screen.

@19Professor74Finally found an actual solution to permanently fix the issue for me. it's on the steam forums for the game at this location : https://steamcommunity.com/app/1172380/discussions/0/3828665650639477491/
The users name who posted the fix is "Huntress" if it doesn't take you straight there just scroll down a bit and look for the post by Huntress concerning Reg editing. I'll CnP the post here but it would be good if you award Huntress on steam if it helps you out :-
"Had this same issue and EA tech support wasn't much help since their info on how to fix the issue seems out of date. They directed me to fix the install path EA Play has/is using try to find the game in. They wanted me to do so using options that EA play doesn't have for a game that is managed by steam (their options only do so for games on Origin). As the issue seems to be EA Play trying to locate the game in the wrong location.
So i found the fix for this which was something that someone else posted in a similar thread. This fixed everything for me and even am getting my Steam achievements for the game now. The fix requires going into RegEdit and fixing EA play's install directory path for the game that way, so it will look in the right spot.
Follow these steps:
1. hit your windows key and search for "regedit"
2. go to "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Respawn\Jedi Fallen Order"
3. Change the value of the variable "Install Dir" to whatever your install directory is for the game in steam."
