Kill Combo Freeze

Hello , i want to report a problem with Star Wars Battlefront.

I reinstalled windows recently and fresh installed the Star Wars Battlefront in my computer and im having some problems.

First problem is that the game doesn't want to start. This is a common problem but after 40 times i managed to start it.

But the worst problem is the combo kill freezing. Everytime i get a multi-kill my game freeze and then crash. Im not even able to go to the task manager, mouse is stuck, game is frozen and there's nothing i can do. lucky i found a solution that i can change the desktops and open the task manager there and kill it. I would like to know if there's any solution to this. Thank you!

*NOTE ! : This happened to me 4 times in a row , and every single time i was killing 3+ people with explosions.

And yes , i tried to repair/reinstall it.

  • Hey there again @77sevenn

Hmm, aside from the fact that your CPU is a bit underwhelming on its single core frequency it should run.

First and foremost, try and reduce your video settings as low as possible if you haven't done so already. Try changing between Fullscreen, Windowed and Borderless to see if it changes anything either. Usually for me at least on Windows 10 Borderless and Windowed work better than Fullscreen due to the way how W10 treats fullscreening.

Next up, let's try simply setting up its priority higher : Launch the game, Alt+Tab out from the game, Go to Task Manager (Either Ctrl+Alt+Del and choose Task Manager, or press Ctrl+Shift+Esc), right click on the game process on the Task Manager and choose "Go to details" . Now from here, right click the highlighted option, choose "Set priority" and bring it up to "High" . See if there is any change in the game's functionality this way.

Close down any programs from the background as well if you have any open.

Try to also run a clean boot of the system and see if it helps running the game any : https://help.ea.com/en/help/faq/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

A random theory : The fact it happens always when you do a multikill makes me think it would have to do with the way Fairfight (anti-cheat) works. As far as I understand, when you do actions like these, Fairfight will record the action to verify it was a clean kill. It kinda sounds like it would end up choking your game in the process.

  • Hey @77sevenn

That sounds like a very interesting crash to say the least. Perhaps the game wants to punish you for doing well.

Would be interesting to see your computer's specs and a DxDiag report : https://help.ea.com/en/help/pc/how-to-gather-dxdiag-information/

    - For more generic solutions :

    • You need DirectX 11 or higher to run the game properly. This usually isn't a problem since both Windows Update and the game itself should install it. This should be visible on the DxDiag at the very bottom of the window :

    - Make sure you also meet the system requirements :

    MINIMUM

    • OS: 64-bit Windows 7 or later
Processor: Intel i3 6300T or equivalent
      Memory: 8GB RAM
Hard Drive: At least 40 GB of free space
Graphics card: NVidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB/ATI Radeon HD 7850 2GB
DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent

    RECOMMENDED

    • OS: 64-bit Windows 10 or later
Processor: Intel i5 6600 or equivalent
      Memory: 16GB RAM
Hard Drive: At least 40 GB of free space
      Graphics card: NVidia GeForce GTX 970 4GB/AMD Radeon R9 290 4GB
DirectX: 11.1 Compatible video card or equivalent

    I attached the dxdiag log.

    - Graphic Drivers are up to date.

    - Windows is up to date.

    - Got Direct X 12 on dxdiag.

    - I got the minimum requirements but for the video card. I lower the resolution scale in-game and manage to get 60 fps. xD

Here I am again, @RedFoxxie. Tried everything , same problem.

-The Borderless Windowed mode drops some hard fps , from 45 to 25.

-The High Priority thing did improve the loading time of the maps , thanks for that.

This time i took a software to record in case it happened again.

    Video : Kill Combo Crash

As I can see it doesnt kill it right after the explosion , but seconds after.. Wonder if its that fairfight.

Some notes : I didn't have this problem before , it started happening after i bought the ultimate edition , when i had the standard game i didnt have any problems beside the launching problem. And why do I still have the standard game in library if i bought the ultimate edition? Its like having 2 different games in my library.
