Laptop Capability Question

Hey guys! I'm new here, and also new to PC gaming. So forgive me if this is a dumb question 😅.

I am looking for a new laptop, as my previous one is really old. One of my concerns is that I would love a laptop that could run games, especially Jedi Fallen Order. I've looked up the minimum and recommended requirements. However I'm also looking for a latop in my price range.

The minimum Intel is i3 and the minimum ram is 8gb.

The laptop I'm looking at has i5 and minimum 8gb of ram.

The *recommended* for the game is i7 and 16gb.

And I'll be honest, for the other requirements, I'm not too knowledgeable on if my laptop will be good enough for a good flow working game.

I'm going to post the laptop I'm looking at, and hopefully you more advanced players will be able to provide some insight and advice! Let me know if this laptop will run the game smoothy or if I should keep researching for a better running laptop.

Thanks much!!

  • Absolutely not. You will need a dedicated GPU (NVIDIA) to play this or almost any game. That laptop's CPU may be able to cut it, but the integrated graphics doesn't even meet the minimum requirements (NVIDIA GTX 650 or AMD Radeon 7750).

You want to find a gaming laptop like this one: https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/7170218/MSI-GF65-Thin-9SEXR-GF65-Thin/ You will want something with at least 4 cores, and an NVIDIA or AMD Graphics card, and at least 8GB RAM (but 16 is generally recommended these days).

Keep in mind gaming laptops (my opinion) are overrated unless you really need that portability. They usually have terrible battery life and the price-to-performance is pretty bad compared to a desktop PC. You won't find a gaming laptop for less than $800, but you can easily find a used desktop PC and monitor with decent hardware for around $500 that would be able to do some light gaming. Something like this, but you'd also need a monitor, keyboard and a mouse: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-Gaming-PC-Computer-i7-3770-3-4-GHz-16-GB-RAM-256GB-2-5-SSD-GTX-1060-6GB/124458288105?hash=item1cfa4ac3e9:g:8ZgAAOSwhC9fvwYa
