I also had this exact Issue. I tried to use force Slow to keep the frog out of my way so I could loot it and get out, but then was killed. What's more, I killed the boss afterwards- and whilst some players said that doing so would recover the life essence glitch, I had no such luck. I find it -really- galling that this bug remains in the game 6 Months later, and what's more, the fact that it could be tracked.
It shouldn't be too hard to fix, since there should be an integer that marks down that a player connected that essence (Since it's also connected to a lore entry. Wouldn't retroactively awarding players who had that lore entry an essence be viable? Possibly by having the essence value be set from 0 to 1 -If- they have that Lore entry when they use a check point?
Just asking as someone that dabbled in coding, yo.
