Just a heads up: the speed at which your ship turns heavily depends on your throttle setting. You turn the fastest when it is set at 50% throttle. 100% makes you turn slower. Sitting still however is the worst, you can barely turn at all.

@court_jester77x Thank you. Yes. I do try varying throttle settings yes. But strangely sitting still allows me more time to line up on a target and guess their track. There is much more chance of a hit!
