Merge Battlefront companion app and game?

I'm trying to use the Star Wars Battlefront app to go along with the game, but I have no idea how to merge the accounts. When setting it up on the game, it only asked for a username. So I can't locate or change the account attached to the game. Advice?

    Change your active platform

Credits earned through the Companion only transfer to the first platform--your PC, PlayStation 4, or Xbox One--and account you playStar WarsBattlefront on.

You cannot transfer credits between different platform’s versions of Star Wars Battlefront, but you can change your active platform in your Companion settings.

    1. Log in to your EA Account in Star Wars Battlefront.
    2. Open the Star Wars Battlefront Companion.
    3. Tap the More (…) button.
    4. Tap Settings.
    5. Tap Profile Settings.
    6. Tap Change Profile and select the platform you want active on the Star Wars Battlefront Companion.

I am also having this issue.  I can't seem to login into my PS4 account details with this companion app. Why can't the app just ask for the PS4 user login or something.

You must first LINK your Xbox Gamertag or PSN ID to your Origin Account before you will see them in your companion app.

Here are the steps needed to link your Gamertag (Or PSN ID) to your Origin account:

    1. Open the Origin Client and click the "Friends" button in the top right corner (If you do not have the Origin Client downloaded, you can do so here)
    2. Click "Add a Friend"
    3. Inside this menu, you will see the option to connect to your Xbox Live Gamer Tag (Or PSN ID)

Once your accounts are linked, then you will need to follow @Carbonic's steps to make sure your Console Character is set to "Active".
