Negative Z Axis not registering in Keybinding setup - rudder pedal.

Product: Star Wars: Squadrons
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
What is your gamertag/PSN ID/EA Account name? Sovereign73811B
Are you playing in VR? Yes
Which VR Platform are you using? Oculus Rift
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Game Menu
What were you doing when the bug occurred? Step by Step detail is helpful. When I tried to bind left yaw to my left rudder pedal, it didn't register. I tested my pedals in a different game to make sure they werent the issue. They tested fine. I also tested the stick's own rudder function and the same problem occurred. Positive z axis registers fine, but negative z axis doesn't register. I can yaw to the right, but not to the left..I thinkit's a problem with detecting negative z axis, because when I try to bind pitch or roll to the z axis, the same problem occurs.
Where did this issue occur? Please include menu name or in game location. It occurred in the key binding menu for HOTAS controls
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 02.10.2020 01:00
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
How severe is your issue? Can play with mild frustration
What happens when the bug occurs? I am unable to bind left yaw to left rudder pedal or left rudder. It doesn't register negative z axis.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see the game register negative z axis when I push on the left rudder pedal. I just expect negative z axis to work.
Which ship were you playing? If not applicable, just answer "no" or "none." no
What components were you using? Logitech Rudder Pedals | Logitech/Saitek X56
Which customizations (if any) were you using? none

Im loving the game but having only half of the z axis work is a real bummer. The problem isn't my flight stick or rudder pedals, I tested them in IL2 Battle of Stalingrad and they worked fine. Anytime I try to bind something to leftward z axis (Negative Z Axis) it doesn't register the input. Thanks for your help.

  • @Sovereign73811B The temporary fix for this is to unplug the "other" joystick/throttle while attempting to bind the key. For some reason the binding will not work while both joysticks are plugged in. So unplug the other one, bind the key, then simply replug the other one back in. Should work

FWIW I ran into this on my Virpil MT-50CM2  stick and solved it by going into there control panel, enabling pro mode, and then mapping the Z axis to buttons 4 and 31 (unused as far as I can tell). I set the ranges at 0-25% and 75-100% to avoid rolling while doing yaw, and it's been working great.

Same issue with the Thrustmaster TPRs. I had to use vJoy and Joystick Gremlin to split the axis to get them to work in both directions.

  • The problem is, the game recognizes only 3 devices, it s too few, i have other flight sims, it s needed for playing.

So, it would be nice to choose which one i want to use and add more choices.

  • Same issue on my VKB rudder pedal. Does work on any other game (flight sim 2020, star citizen, etc). Please fix this as a priority, game is unplayable right now

  • Having the same issue on  logitech X.52 [not pro] joystick. I can map yaw left but not right to the Z rotation axis. it only detects z rotation left. thought z rotation right is tested to work.  unfortunately the way the stick works unplugging the throttle is not an option. ;stick connects to throttle and throttle goes to the usb port.

  • @Mcavity5 using the x.52 HOTAS I had to manualy edit the "ProfileOptions_profile_synced" file.
    GstKeyBinding.IncomStarshipInputConcepts.ConceptRoll.4.altbutton 0
    GstKeyBinding.IncomStarshipInputConcepts.ConceptRoll.4.axis 26
    GstKeyBinding.IncomStarshipInputConcepts.ConceptRoll.4.button 46

    and
    GstKeyBinding.IncomStarshipInputConcepts.ConceptRoll.5.axis 26
    GstKeyBinding.IncomStarshipInputConcepts.ConceptRoll.5.button 47

I also had to set the deadzone for roll to 97% !
however after doing this it worked and am now able to roll and yaw.
