I read that this game will be played entirely from cockpit view. Is this true? I get motion sickness in first-person games and can't play them, and so does everyone else in my family. I was really looking forward to play Squadrons. It would be a shame if I had to skip this game after having fun with Battlefront 2's starfighter mode, but that game mode has too few players to play anymore.
It would be interesting to see if they allow for a minimal cockpit view with full HUD, as exampled in the screenshot below from X-Wing Alliance.
Of course, you would need a few visual cue in order to ascertain the front of your craft in VR mode, but I think it wouldn't require too much effort to develop.
love the idea there is no 3rd person view the way all flight sims should be played.
I'm pretty stoked that it's all cockpit views. It's great that they're going for a more immersive experience with this title.
However, I also enjoy being able to appreciate the models in a third person perspective.
Were they to come up with a decent HUD for all the information you need to keep track of in this game, I'd be pretty alright with a pre-round vote to play in cockpits or outside of the ship. It definitely should be one or the other, as trying to play MP in SFA in BF2 the FOV of the cockpit view was way limited compared to third person.
My understanding is that view of the cockpit readouts allow for more advanced control of flight. So those readouts need to be visible (i.e. first person cockpit view).
Do we have any flight-sim veterans who can confirm? 🙂
