The controller part of this game is just a joke.

I can not understand how such things can happen!
The buttons on my Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog have no effect, so I can't get past the initial settings screen.
I have the same limitation.
I have 8 game devices, and have to unplug those i don't need to play. It's not user friendly.
Update: I was able to solve my problem The Microsoft Way[TM] by rebooting (which installed a bunch of updates).
Since then it's been fairly smooth, although I did get a crash at the end of story mode mission 2, which I was able to resolve by playing that part out of VR.
