under Options, Controls, near the bottom you can select what flight stick 1, 2 and 3 are.  the game DOES have a bug where if there are more than 4 devices it may not pick the RIGHT 4 devices.  I would have liked that the game "know" that my throttle device was going to control my throttle functions, but it was not difficult to remap.  i'm using the thrustmaster t.16000 and have 0 problems.

@TRA_Squishytoad the problem is with the X56 as i have the same issue, if you remap something it is gieven a different name eg Y-Axies up becomes Y-Axies rotate and it will not work even though you just mapped the same stick movment. the defualt settings of the game work but people with the X56 are buggered so with out a HOTAS Vr cant work it is a game breaker for me i am going for a refund. it is typical EA beta where they only test mouse and keyboard the mainstream HOTAS are ignored.
