I used it all the time until it got broke and you didnt have to hold down the button to fire. I will try that out, but as described above, the cannon doesnt even appear in game ever since the last patch on oct 15. All my friends got the same issue =/
So I tried holding down the button but as expected it didnt change anything. Again I can confirm in Practice Mode the Cannon works as just fine, but in PVP this is a dead slot atm.
Could anybody else please check this out? Every one of my friends who tried the cannon has the same problem as me. If the cannon is working for everyone else out there I'd be really confused, or maybe it's just that noone uses it at all.

Yes, I checked that.
I have tested the Automatic ION cannon in both Training mode and Multiplayer mode.
It actually worked.
...But, as you stated, it is really weak.
It deals no damage to the enemy hull (but stuns the enemy).
And it only hit when the enemy's relative velocity is really slow.
Of course, it has some pros. For example, it won't be out of ammo. Never be.
It can shoot where you cannot see. The effect duration is very long (about 20sec).
For me, the main problem is... Bomber has many other options. 🤒
(Also this is the Y-wing's default weapon. Oh...)
@Sati_Sati Thanks for checking! Maybe todays patch included a fix. I will try it again this evening. Yes, the weapon itself is really weak, but I've found it to be pretty helpful against enemies chasing me in dogfight mode, as some ppl stop the chase being annoyed by getting those hits, and I tend to get at least 1 or 2 kills per match on an enemy that got stunned by it. Also it's kinda iconic having the turret on the Y-wing, my favorite ship!
So I tried the following modes:
Practice: Cannon works
KI Fleet battle Solo: Cannon works
Dogfight: Cannon doesn't shoot
I didnt change anything on my loadout, somehow enemy players aren't targeted by the cannon. Have to try out pvp fleet battles again.
@Sati_Sati Are you playing on PC or console? Maybe this bug is pc only.
