Double check your settings - you can set Soldier Sprint to "Hold" or "Toggle". As you said you're also able to swap the Sprint from left to right stick in the menus.

Try resetting the key bindings to default in the game. If you should play on PlayStation, you can also try to remap the buttons from the PlayStation main settings menu.
