Just seen the refund policy and it's 24 hrs from launch of the game. Requested a refund.
If they ever get this fixed I may look at it again but not until then.
@Esquire1980- On my end, not concerned about refunds, I'm only concerned about these issues getting fixed ASAP by the developers with a proper patch. Also, refunds are off-topic, and if people want refunds, fine, that's a personal preference and prerogative, but is off-topic for this thread.
It's asked that people please at least stay on topic by making their posts about what is felt to be expected for control customization options in a PC game; however specifically Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in this particular case.
Thanks. There are a lot of people having problems with Using Steam and playing this game. I only have Anthem right now loaded on my gaming notebook. Probably going to get this game if it is on Discount.
BTW why are so many people having problems with Steam?
@ReposterI'm honestly not sure if this is the right place to even be discussing the Steam version; however I'm aware that Steam will sometimes redirect people to get support from the publisher when issues occur, so it's completely possible this is the right place to discuss issues with both the Origin Client & Steam versions of the PC version of Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order; however I'd advise that this thread should ONLY be regarding those using the Origin Client because Steam does have a Steam Community Forums of its own that people should be discussing the Steam version on.
Regardless of whether or not the version of the game being used is on the Steam or Origin Client Platforms, the issues would be the same in either case, and the fact remains that a significant patch to fix the play control and control customization options is required to be implement for the PC version of the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order regardless of which PC platform the game is running on because both versions have identical problems with the play control and control customization options available in game at this time that do make the PC version unplayable with a Mouse & Keyboard that happens to be the preferred method of control for most PC players based on my own knowledge and experience.
Please stay on topic since the issue at hand is NOT platform specific, but is rather instead, specific to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order regardless of the platform it's being run from.I got the game on Origin.
Disgusted with this limited rebinding of the controls.
@UnverschamterOk not trying to derail this thread, I am monitoring both Steam and EA forums, so if I decide to finally get this game hopefully no more problems persist. I was thinking seriously about getting the Steam version though as I prefer using Steam than Origin honestly speaking.
It probably is better to start a new thread to Start helping Steam users if they still cannot resolve their problem on Steam. Just wondering do EA Staff monitor the Steam forums currently?
Good luck with getting a fast patch on re-key-binding. I doubt it's forthcoming which is why the refund for me. Like I said above, there's only 24 hrs after log in to make the decision. Not much time to wait to see if a patch will make it. I'm sure they knew this was a problem long before we posted which is why the "recommendation" to use a controller comes up so fast at game launch. With that in mind, there may be some reason why they can't altho every other game I've looked at for the Unreal engine includes what you and I are talking about as standard playability.
But, your more than correct OP, the game is unplayable on a PC and at the least, EA should of made customers aware of this problem before money changed hands. And I have to admit, I was looking forward to another Star Wars game. Guess I'll stick with SWG.
@ReposterFair enough, I've tried both myself at this point because myself and a few gamer friends had a little launch party for this game tonight, and we've all seen that the problems DO exist with both the Steam and Origin Platforms for the PC versions of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order specifically regarding play control and control customization issues. Any other issue may or may not be platform specific, but the play control and control customization problems are essentially universal to both PC platforms, so this thread is fine to use for any posts about the play control and control customization problems that need to be patched.
On Steam I can say that I just looked, and it appears that both Respawn and EA/Origin share the same developer/publisher pages according to the listing of the game with their shared developer/publisher page being here at the following URL:https://store.steampowered.com/developer/EA
...with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order being listed at the URL below:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1172380?snr=1_41_4__42
I've no idea what the developers and publishers do and/or do not do; however the URL does at least make it known that there IS some sort of EA/Origin and/or Respawn Entertainment presence on Steam.
As a set of rules, when issues like this come up with anything, I always suggest dealing directly with whatever forums apply to the platform the game is being used from and/or was purchased from because while we of the community are certainly capable of thinking on our feet when being inquisitive and empathetic about these kinds of problems ( i.e. "Are others having the same problem on other platforms?"
) ...in the event there are any platform related issues that also come up, I'm not concerned about the community getting derailed, I'm concerned about the developers getting derailed should this thread garner their much needed attention. That's why I suggested Steam users should keep their posts on Steam Community unless Steam Support says to do otherwise, and that Origin Client users should be using these forums here.
Hope that helps clarify things, so that everyone can mutually benefit from some focus. :D@Esquire1980 They make all of these types of games this way because they design it for use with a controller. I've been bitching about it forever. At least give us the option to lock the camera behind our character and get rid of these stupid lock-on and targeting mechanics. Would be so much better playing like this, I really am clueless on how nobody has done this yet for PC. Console master race I guess.

I'm gonna get chewed up for this, but I don't entirely agree. I don't think this game is unplayable using mouse and keyboard, I just completed it twice, and didn't have too much trouble with it, but I agree, the mouse keyboard settings are disappointing. I don't understand your comment about mouse-look, are you not using WASD to move? I don't even touch those arrow keys.
I played the last two releases of star wars battlefront, so I guess I'm used to the interface, and I DO APPRECIATE that they kept the controls the same. I refuse to use a console controller. As a grown up I feel like I'm not actually playing video games if I'm using a keyboard mouse or joystick 😉 but I did have to remap some of the keys. 1,2, and 3 are extremely uncomfortable to reach, I remapped Slow to T, Push to G, and Pull to V, it turned out to be much easier. I also was able using a proprietary app for my Microsoft mouse to remap the back key on my mouse to Z.Z to roll backwards, that was most helpful.
Things I struggle with are as follows:
- X and C are very uncomfortable to hit to switch between single and double LS blades. A toggle option would be so much simpler during a fight.
- I keep hitting the Windows key on my keyboard, which pulls you out of game and has gotten me killed numerous times during boss fights. Can't this be set to be disabled? I did fix this by downloading a free app that I have to remember to activate every time I play.
- why can't you assign mouse buttons? 5 button mice are not exactly new inventions, and the mouse wheel is totally unused unless you are looking at the map. I would have liked to roll it to toggle between lightsaber modes.
I rolled my eyes when I saw under system requirements that a game controller was not required but strongly recommended. You all need to stop trying to phase out keyboards, mice, and joysticks. Star Wars Battlefront II apparently had joystick support during beta which was REMOVED, and the game was not fun in Starfighter modes. Fortunately some resourceful person figured out how to back the controls to make a USB Joystick emulate an Xbox controller. PC users make up a huge portion of your consumers, quit trying to dumb down our games by making us use controllers.

You can assign mouse buttons. You can also assign keys to most mice using software. But out of the box all five mouse buttons are bindable.

What you just said makes no sense. PC users, historically, were among the pioneers of game controllers. We used to have a port, made for them. We will buy mice, gaming pads, headsets, mechanical keyboards, rgb chairs, snazzy cases, cooling fans, new drives, adapters, wires, monitors~ but you can't buy a gamepad? A gamepad is a video game accessory, and I think its absolute madness that you think it should be optional in 2019. Read the damn mood.

It makes sense, maybe just not to someone who lives playing on console controls. Years ago, there were PC games, and the consoles were the Nintendo NES, which had one of the first controllers. It had a cursor pad and two buttons. PC games used keyboards which had a lot more buttons. As games on consoles got more complicated, they added buttons, first with the Super NES, then with the Sega consoles, etc. These games were often simpler to control because there were fewer controls. At the same time, you had more realistic space Sims and RPGs on PC with keyboard controls that used the entire keyboard. Early 2000s they started porting PC games to consoles, and guess what? They got WAY SIMPLER to control. I'll never forget Star Wars Galaxies, one of the early MMORPGs, it was great, very successful for a few years. Then in 2005 they released the "New Game Experience" patch, meant to simplify it for releasing on console systems. The game wasn't fun anymore. Everyone quit and the servers shut down after a few months. Why? Bc you can't do all the things you could do with a mouse and keyboard on a game controller. Fewer buttons, no typing commands, no control with the mouse. It sucks. I'm sure this is great for business, it opens up the market for these games, but the quality of experience is limited to what you can do on a console.
Ya, I could buy a game controller, but it's a lousy experience and I don't want to, and I'm sad for what we lost so businesses could make these games more kid-friendly.

How do you emulate the analog walk-run movement mechanics on a keyboard and mouse? Is that ability exclusive to children? Would a walk button be a true emulation of such a mechanic? Is your hardware capable of emulating this?
Think about what you're saying. It is simply a peripheral. It shouldn't be required, all peripherals should be acknowledged and available. They should be expected by the developer. As well as the user. Flight simulators and racing games should be expected to play on a number of peripherals, including a keyboard and mouse. A keyboard has enough inputs to accommodate any number of tasks. It is never going to be the optimal solution to all of them.
PC Gamers, true PC gamers, should be quite aware of this, or will you tell me that Thrustmaster, Saitek, and a number of manufacturers haven't been involved in the long history of PC gaming game accessories since long before the dawn of the universal system bus?

WASD to walk, add L-Shift to run. It works great in various games, including this one.
I never said it should be required. But it seems like a pretty bad idea to not fully support it and prioritize console controllers on a PC game.
Just picked up access premium (what a screaming deal!) and started playing fallen order 2/26/20 today. The mouse keys do bind, but it doesn't always let you, you have to sit there and keep pressing and holding the mouse key you want bound. The first 20 times I pressed them in "bind key" mode it wouldn't do anything. But after a few minutes of trying they started working.
Weird that you have to hold and wait for it to bind. I was unable to bind mouse scroll up or mouse scroll down due to this timed function in keybinding. Lame sauce as this is how 99% of all games zoom in or out!
