Re: Story Mode is overly "difficult" for a "Story Mode"

@AOD_Dorrtjaycompletely irrelevant to the discussion of "story mode"

We're not talking about general difficulty of the game. There's a difficulty setting called "Story Mode" that is what is being discussed... we're not talking about any other difficulty.

A story mode difficulty in a game is supposed to be narrative and made super easy.

@jmordreddev Having played other games with a story mode I tend to agree. I chose to try it on Story Mode and I feel like I’m playing the Normal difficulty. I spend way too long fighting and not enjoying the story itself.
  • As you've said there is a Story-Mode difficulty, I don't understand how it's a struggle.

I started off using the middle difficulties and got annihilated, went down to the story mode difficulty and proceeded to wreck everything...

Unlock skills to help and use parry/evade when necessary. You can one-hit most enemies using a mix of force powers and lightsaber combos

@ChickaChickaaaa.... I can only explain this so many times...story mode doesn't work like story mode is supposed to work.

In the simplest terms, story modes in games are supposed to be so easy and simple that it's accessible to ANYBODY, even your grandma who's never played a game in her life.  This game's story mode is not, you need to have some skill still - and therefore it is an EASY MODE, not a STORY MODE.  Therein lies my issues with it.

Story Mode = Narrative driven, light attacking enemies should kill them unless they're bosses
Easy Mode = Easy combat requiring some degree of skill

Tell me do you think your grandma could pick up a controller right now and beat any of the bosses in this game?  Do you think she'd have fun fighting 3 purge troopers and 5 scouts?  If the answer is no, then you should understand the issue at hand.

  • Parry is a basic attack in most combat games and on Story mode you get at least a 3 second window to use it...

You essentially want to walk around and one-hit everything without the enemies even defending themselves. You might as well ask for a tourist mode where there are no enemies. There is nothing difficult about the story mode in this game, you can let the enemy hit you about 10 times and you've still got half health

@ChickaChickaaaayes that's what I want because that's what a Story Mode is supposed to be... I'm glad you've understood this finally.  If you've ever played a Story mode in any other game, that's EXACTLY what they are.   Now I know you're trying to be insulting - but the irony is that you're exactly right.

You still go on about taking damage and stuff, that's not the point.  The point is you shouldn't have to actively engage in combat, use combos, parry, block - none of that.  That all detracts from what a story mode is supposed to be.

And my frustrations were never rooted in taking damage anyway, but rather from the fact that enemies instantly get their stamina back after being hit once.  If they fought back with this level of damage fine - but the problem is you just as much damage to them in Story Mode as in Jedi Grandmaster.  Same health and stamina on every difficulty for the enemies.

This is going to be my last response to you because you seem completely unwilling to understand what a "Story mode" is supposed to constitute.

Hey everyone, just jumping in to remind all of you to be respectful to each other.

We all have different levels of proficiency, patience, and time when it comes to video games. What seems completely fine for one person can be overly difficult for the next. And that's OK. Everyone can and should enjoy games, just as they want.

We will make sure to pass on the feedback in this thread to the studio team.

  • if thats the case, we need a 5th difficulty, Story Mode (simple combat) ? i like story mode as it is now, and im not interested in going up to the next difficulty if story mode becomes simple a press to kill mode. but i enjoy it on story mode, and making that require no effort at all will mean forcing ME to play on a harder difficulty which will kill the fun. please bear this in mind. im all for options, maybe there could be a toggle to disable enemy AI or something in the game settings?

this is fair. What is currently called Story Mode should be re-branded Padawan as somebody said earlier in the thread - then a proper story mode should be implemented.
  • @jmordreddev

i prefer keep story mode as story mode, and have the new mode called Movie Mode. because you really will be in a movie! padawan mode is also good though.
