Re: Target indicator does not point to target

@robidog1979 Yes the WMR portal automatically starts up when I pick the Reverb G2 off my desk and place it on my head. By default the keyboard input remains in desktop mode and it prompts me to hit Win+Y to direct input into VR.

  • @lepukowskyDamn! Ok maybe there is a G2 specific problem :-( But it is definitely due to the stupid query of the sensor! Why did it sometimes work? I am so sorry :-(

    so again:
    @ Devs:

Please remove the query of the sensor. This is not necessary for PC HMD and causes only problems. Besides the effect of the problem is that the boxes are not rendered behind the crosshair but in front of it.

My prox sensor doesn't work, I guess this is the problem. (Acer HMD).

DEVS!! Turn off the sensor query! Windows doesn't need it!!  I can NOT target in VR in Squadrons!! Will NOT play online until this is fixed!

I also have those problems with the reverb G2. I can handle it this way:

When I manually cover the prox sensor and move the finger back I can see the red lines popping up in front of me. So I can confirm the issue is related to this sensor.

No red lines moving with my head? Great. Ingame is fine then, but 3-7 times during a match, the IPD resets to 60mm (without moving or doing anything!) and the targeting bug is present. If I immediately move the IPD-Switcher, my original setting (64,4) is reverted and the targeting issue is gone. So maybe there is another issue with this. It is strange that this happens because it is a mechanical Switch!

Is someone experiencing the same problem?

For anyone still reading this with an x570 motherboard and an HP G2 this way which fixed my Squadrons issue (the x570 and G2 have some unique power issues):

    1. Set PCIe to generation 3 in my BIOS to install the G2 in WMR for initial device setup
    2. Got this PCIe USB card and installed it
    3. Changed PCIe to generation back to "auto select" in BIOS
    4. Plugged all peripheral usb devices into either the PCIe USB card or the front facing USB panel (i.e. not anywhere on any of the main mobo usb root hubs).
    5. Plugged the G2 into the "VR Ready" USB 3.0 (not 3.1 or 3.2) hub on the mobo

I've seen totally different approaches for different headsets but this worked for me with a G2 and an x570 which is worse than many other situations because of the x570 usb power issues.

Please "UN-SOLVE" this issue. Clearly there are still people struggling with the VR targeting bug. It's pretty much un-playable without the targeting system.

  • @catlegwest

Have you ever tried to clean the sensor with cleaning fluid? I had the same problem!

    @ Devs
Please remove the proximity sensor query! No other PC VR game needs this query!

It's still a great game! But we need every pilot! Especially VR pilots! ;-)

If it was dirty it should give a false positive! (JK, IDK.)

My prox sensor is apparently dead. No infra red light emitted, won't wake the headset up.

But if the game would just assume that I'm wearing it, it shouldn't be a problem.

Devs, stop checking the prox sensor, if VR is on then it's being worn.

I have this issue as well.. can't find any way to get my targeting reticle back to normal.. worked fine before I reinstalled windows.. guessing maybe the new version of Steam VR is the issue??
