Have not purchased an EA published title since BF3, thought this may be the path back to EA. Got my Origin account out of moth balls (thank you EA support persons) and upgraded to Windows 10 for Star Wars Squadrons. I put my hands up to the stupidity of upgrading and not checking out Dev forums and the hype train etc. but I have been far too disappointed following that route before so stopped that masochistic practice near a decade ago.

BTW don’t like VR, have tried it, don’t like (glasses, uncomfortable, hot, motion sickness, lose keyboard, lose mouse, lose HOTAS, tangle in wires and fall over; blood sweat and tears) so do not come peddling that virtual reality bovine excrement in response to these ramblings.

Was looking forward to this title, it had not even entered my mind that TrackIR would not be supported and I can honestly say that discussions as to implementing HOTAS support being an afterthought are just plain dumb. Lads lassies and others (excepting the two EA support persons), tis not the smell of the countryside on a warm dark night you, the collective EA, is experiencing and it is suggested that the collective EA get their heads out of their arses.

I would like it if the developers and EA would also put their hands up for this stupid lapse in judgement; as was mentioned in an earlier post would you release a game without mouse support? In this day and age I expect TrackIR to be included in sims (flight, space, mech and hell FPS).

It is bad enough that “console ports” are now a marketing sales pitch; I remember when that was considered bad, but to use it as an excuse is well just a lousy excuse and as the consumer I do not accept it. I will be going about getting a refund if there is no patch before the weekend as I am not much interested in a new “retro” “console port” gaming title (I don’t really give a toss about playing with the console kids I suppose) and I will wait for a proper space flight sim or just play Elite D.

  • @rimjib " ... refund if there is no patch before the weekend ..."
    That's a good one.
This is a game developed with VR and console port in mind.
This is not going to change.
I, personally, excepted it for what it is, and what it is not.
Using a HOTAS (but no VR) I can look around a bit using the HAT switch (and mouse) ... but of course ... that is no TrackIr 1
Maybe Motiv will do what is needed ... if EA allows the Devs to go on !?
BTW I do like Star Wars : Squadrons ... it is great (I yet did not even expect it to be)

In deed, the mouse was gone after I set up the X56.

By the way, I returned and get refounded the Squadrons because of no Track IR support.

EA, please listen to your customers.

All decent Racing Simulations like  Iracing, rF2, RRE, Assetto Corsa, Dirt Rally support Headtracking, even if the demand for Flight Sims is much higher ...

So plz support it. As a sidenote Codemasters implemented VR for Dirt Rally 2.0 post release after the community wished for - so I guess the devs will have the courtesy to do the same for Squadrons regarding Track IR. Cause there's no excuse for not doing it 😉

    Thx in advance....

@LT-Wolf_Fedaykin i agree TrackIR would be the solution. However there is another thread already dealing with it. I'm suggesting this as an alternative if they decide in their infinite wisdom to not implement TrackIR, to at the very least provide us with a button toggle to FreeLook-Track the current targetted ship on our rader.

eg. Xwing in front of you, you target it, then hold down the freelooktrack button, and for as long as you are holding it, the cam will focus follow the target up to a max of 180 degrees above/below/sides of your center cockpit. This will 'artificially' give you the TrackIR equivalent of following your target.

Sadly it won't help you sightsee the beauty of the environment as it's only going to work during combat, but hey... it's better than nothing.

@BullitMagnit74I think that's called "padlock" in other flight sims, which would be another good step in the right direction...

Where is this other thread you mentioned?

Track IR would be an easier solution than padlock but that's just me. The implementation is free and with the work they did for VR it wouldn't be that hard
