Hey @phigax  Not aware of anything that can force it to recognise the controller when using steam link. 

Does it work when you don't use steam link?

    @EA_AticI have the same issue, but bought the game on steam. Game worked a couple times. Once via steam link with a Steam controller. A second time on the pc (no steam link) with a steam controller. Since then, I cannot get the game to recognize the controller.

    I have tried unplugging all usb/input devices except the steam controller, and it still thinks i am using amouse and keyboard.

    This is very frustrating.
