Speedlink Dark Tornado + Keyboard

The game won't accept inputs from my keyboard and my joystick at the same time, so if I'm turning and adjusting the throttle only one of these inputs will happen ingame. The game reads my joystick as a generic controller with xbox icons so I'm not sure if thats the issue?
