Star Wars Battlefront freezes then crashes to desktop.

Heya.

Purchased this game now that it was on sale. Been having a blast so far. Well, as long as my game is working properly.

My game freezes after 20-40 minutes of gameplay, which forces me to bring up the task manager. After I've brought up the task manager, the game crashes.

I have tried several things to battle this problem:

  1. I have the "-novid -noborder -windowed"-thing on my game as well as having deactivated Origin in-game.

  2. I have updated every single driver I have found.

  3. My computer is as good as brand new (~1 year old), with recently updated memory and graphics card.

  4. I've taken out unused USB-devices, deactivated my anti-virus and disabled MSI Afterburner.

  5. I have tried repairing Star Wars Battlefront as well as reinstalling Origin.

Has anyone else been having this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'd like to be able to play this game more, without having to lose my score (and credits) after crashing in the middle of a game. Worth nothing is that I never crash in the menu, only in-game.

Thank you.

  • Hey there, BeardOfSweden.

First off, does your computer/PC meet STAR WARS™ Battlefront™'s minimum requirements? Here's the minimum requirements as stated on the Origin page of the game.

    Minimum PC System Requirements

    OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
Processor (Intel): Intel i3 6300T or equivalent
    Memory: 8GB RAM
Hard Drive: At least 40 GB of free space
Graphics card (NVIDIA): nVidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB
Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB
DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection

    Hopefully this can get fixed,

    Imperial

Any solution yet? I have the exact same problem. I'm going to have to give up the game if this isn't resolved.

I have, maybe not the same problem, but my PC is just turning off and on on his own while playing Squadron mode

I bought the whole she-bang when it first came out, $175 CDN.  Now after the latest patch and DLC, game always locks my computer between games requiring hard reset.  Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn't even work.

Specs are similar to BeardOfSweden in terms of modernity:

    R290 GFX

    AMD FX Processor

    8 gig of Ram

Windows 7 64 bit (latest windows update)

I would really love to actually enjoy the almost $200 I spent on this game.

    Thanks for fixing this soon.

I've been having this issue since the February update. I have never been able to play multiplayer without it freezing and crashing during a match, usually during the first match. The game is barely playable.

Reinstalling/repairing the game, reinstalling Origin, updating graphics drivers, and disabling Origin in-game have done nothing. Lowering the graphics settings appears to delay the issue, but I could be wrong.

My system specs are as follows:
    Windows 10
    Intel i7
    Nvdia GeForce930M
    8 GB RAM

Everyone who's reported the issue with specs seems to have Nvdia graphics; most started encountering issues post February update.

EA/DICE, if you're there and want more details, I posted more about my experience on the Battlefront thread here: http://starwars.ea.com/starwars/battlefront/forums/discussion/35627/battlefront-has-been-freezing-during-matches-for-the-past-month%23latest#Comment_240773

And other people have been reporting the issue on these threads as well:
    http://starwars.ea.com/starwars/battlefront/forums/discussion/30083/multiplayer-freezing-on-pc
    http://starwars.ea.com/starwars/battlefront/forums/discussion/32045/screen-freezes-then-game-crash#latest
    http://starwars.ea.com/starwars/battlefront/forums/discussion/32281/crash-freeze-please-fix-in-next-patch-ea#latest

I've barely been able to play the game for a month now; I'm honestly just trying to find as many threads with people reporting this issue as possible, and hoping that someone finds a workaround or EA/DICE acknowledges the issue.
