Star Wars Battlefront (I) not recognizing keyboard

Hi, I've been having a problem since I installed this game: It launches fine, but when it is in start screen and ask for [space] to start, it doesn't recognize the key stroke. I tried with a PS5 controller, and it worked, and the keyboard was still not recognized. It is as the game only worked with controllers on my PC. I know some other people have been experiencing this, but none of the solutions have proved effective:

* I've disabled Steam and EA overlays.

* I've updated my PC to latest drivers (in fact it is much newer than the game).

* I've tried with several keyboards (usb, bluetooth), and with the one in the laptop.

* I've verified the game files, and also I've reinstalled it.

My laptop is an Asus Zenbook with the following properties:

* CPU: Core i5 1240p

* GPU: Intel iris Xe

* RAM: 8GB DDR5

* SSD: 256 GB NVME

Please, could someone help me with this?

    I can't get it to work on my computer either.  I have an i9 11980HK with an Intel Arc B580.  Keyboard and mouse are locked out of the game.  All overlays have been turned off.  No software like teams are installed.  This is absolutely stupid.  It can't possibly be this difficult for them to fix the keyboard and mouse inputs.  You would think that on a PC, where every program uses the mouse and keyboard without a problem, that it would be a pretty simple thing to have the mouse and keyboard work.  I certainly had no trouble with keyboards and mice when I wrote programs for windows.
