Star Wars Squadrons Friends "not online" when they are

I am running Star Wars Squadrons on a Windows PC.  I routinely play with my son, on his XBox. We have had our accounts linked as "friends" for years now.

We haven't played in the past several months and just tried playing together. My EA account says he is offline (when he is connected on his XBox), and his XBox account says I am offline (while I am connected). Moreover, I have noticed that his XBox account now lists my *Microsoft Minecraft* account as his "friend", rather than my EA account.  I don't think that has ever been the case in the past.

We have both tried several methods of adding one another as friends (including joining a common custom battle in-game and directly clicking to add as a friend), and every time we get an error message saying the friend request failed.

I tried linking my Microsoft Minecraft account to my EA account, but that has not fixed things either.

Please advise how I can resolve this? It is completely bizarre that it just started happening. This has never been a problem in the past, and we haven't changed anything.

Hi @Heros_of_Yavin4, would it be possible to get a DM of your friends list on how your account looks for him?

Was your Minecraft account showing your Microsoft email or online name versus the one it used to?

  • I'm having the same issue - all of my EA friends are no longer appearing in game.  They say the same on their side as well.  I'm on PC and they're on PS5.

  • Hi @EA_Illium , Thank you for being willing to look into this!! I will DM you the screenshots you requested now. (Sorry for being slow, it's been a busy week.)

Also, you asked the following: "Was your Minecraft account showing your Microsoft email or online name versus the one it used to?"  I'm not sure what you mean though. Do you want me to log into Minecraft? If I log into Minecraft, it shows my Minecraft account (Yavin4Heros), which I think is how it's been for a while now (I don't notice any changes there).

Will separately DM you with my Star Wars Squadrons friends list, and my son's. You will see we were both online at the same time, but our friends lists each say the other of us is offline. We have even joined a common custom battle, and clicked directly on each other's player names to "re-friend", but we just get the same error message that the friend request failed.

Thank you again for looking into this, I really appreciate it!!
